4th of July Cupcakes

4th of July is one of my favorite holidays! Next to Christmas, you will probably find more 4th of July treats and crafts than other holidays. Parades…Cookouts…Fun food…Fireworks…and oh yes…Cupcakes!
4th of July is one of those holidays that is easy – there isn’t a lot of preparation, there isn’t expectation of gifts, and the decorations are minimal. I think that is one reason why I love 4th of July so much! It brings with it the anticipation of a care free summer!

4th of July Cupcakes
Ingredients
- 1 vanilla cake mix plus ingredients to make it taste more like homemade
- Red Coloring
- Blue Coloring
- Buttercream Frosting
- Sprinkles
- Cupcake Toppers – grab your FREE printable cupcake toppers
Kitchen Essentials Needed
- Mixing Bowl
- 3 Small Bowls
- Spatula
- Cookie Dough Scoop
- Skewer or Toothpick for swirling
- Plastic Decorator Bag fitted with #1M tip
How to make Tie Dye Cupcakes
- Mix cake batter, then divide the batter equally into 3 bowls. Add red coloring to one bowl of batter, and blue coloring to another.
- Drop a small amount of each color of batter into a lined cupcake pan, repeat with colors until 2/3 full
- Using a skewer or toothpick, swirl the batter slightly
- Bake for 350 degrees for about 15 minutes or until a toothpick is clean when inserted in the center
Now it’s time to frost and decorate the cupcakes. Any frosting you like is fine, I used my favorite Buttercream Frosting recipe. Swirl frosting onto cupcakes, add sprinkles and the cupcake toppers.
