Father’s Day Cupcakes

Do you have a golfer in your family? Your Dad or maybe your husband? These golf cupcakes would be perfect.
I started with a yellow cupcake, but you could use any flavor, of course. Then I piped on strips of green frosting to make the base for the grass.

Then I piped little shoots of grass on top

I added the flag and a chocolate golf ball.

To make the flag, I simply cut out a triangle from red construction paper, drew a number on it, and taped a toothpick to the back.
I purchased the chocolate golf balls at a candy store in a nearby town. But if you can’t find them, you could use round yogurt covered nuts, pretzels or anything round.
Here is a top view of them…

Does the Father in your life like other sports instead? How about Baseball, Basketball or Football?

Or maybe a cake instead of cupcakes…

I made the cake and cupcakes for a friend’s son’s birthday last January. For the cake I started with a regular 13×9.

And piped on the yard lines with frosting. Then I added a basketball cake made from a regular 8 inch cake. And I made the baseball cake in a measuring bowl.
I made this cake before I starting blogging, and apoligize that I don’t have the step-by-step for you, but my youngest son celebrates his 12th. birthday next week, I may just have to re-create it.
I bought the goal posts at the dollar store and made the jersey out of construction paper. The football picks were made similiar to the golf flags, but I printed the footballs off the computer and then put the toothpick on them.
