My Sweet Potato Vine Whine
Let me share with you my Love/Hate relationship with My Sweet Potato Vine!
Oh how I Love Sweet Potato Vine! They really are beautiful and their lime green leaves really make any planting pop! They are super easy to grow, in fact, a little too easy. Add a little fertilizer and you get this…
Yes! This is my cute little wagon, the one with our house numbers on it! The house numbers that you can NO LONGER SEE!
And see…the Sweet Potato Vine, just keeps growing..and…growing…and growing…
It is now almost out to the grass, a good 5 feet at least.
It really does take over everything else around it. I suppose Hate is a little harsh…but you get the idea.
I also planted some in my window box, it’s very beautiful, but the other plants look really small compared to the vine.
And thus…my Love/Hate relationship.
So, what’s your opinion? Do you Love Sweet Potato Vine? Or hate it?

Well, you probably just need to eat them. I was given sweet potato vine leaves as part of a farm food co-op deal I was in last year and they were lovely. I’ve been meaning to grow them. Don’t take my word for it though that you have an edible kind, but it’s worth looking into. Look at all that salad you could have!
I’ve grown them in baskets and just trimmed them when they got too long. Have you done that? They really are pretty, though…
Thanks for sharing at the Tuesday Garden Party!
@Jami @ An Oregon Cottage, Yes, I trimmed them a bit. I probably should trim more though.
Thanks for stopping by!

My Mother-in-law just asked me what this plant was called. I never knew! Now I can tell her.
Thanks for linking up!

I have a black thumb…and this and lantana are the two things that are THRIVING in my yard!! Ok with me if I have to prune them, I just can’t kill them- yet. Love it!
I had never heard of them before but love the pictures. Putting this with the purple variety would be beautiful I bet. I’ll have to look into this one.
