Frugal Decorating with Antique Chairs

Jump to recipe!

I have several wooden Antique Chairs that I have had many, many years. I enjoy decorating with them, they easily tuck into a corner to fill space. And give a little splash of color here or there.

It was well past time, to give our Front Porch a little make-over.

I started with one of the Antique Chairs. The more worn down the better, as far as I’m concerned. You can see, this one even has a broken seat. I had some Red Bud and Flowering Crab branches left over after my indoor decorating, so I added them. I added a grapevine wreath, some clay pots and a couple little birds that I found at the Dollar Store awhile back. And one of my favorite Antique Watering Cans.

I also recently decorated an Antique Chair in the Dining Room.

I simply stacked up some favorite books, added a wooden box and a little ceramic pitcher that looks like an orange. I filled the pitcher with water and added some long pieces of ivy, and just wrapped them around the chair posts.

Both projects took me about 10 minutes each, but I think they make an amazing statement 🙂 And other than the $2 that I spent about a month ago on the birds, I had everything else on hand.

  4. Love your chair on the front porch. How cozy looking. You decorated it just perfectly.

I found a little antique chair at GW the other for $2. I was excited to say the least. I also have another one that I put a little chalboard paint on the very top strip of wood and can write little messages on it for my kitchen. Happy Spring, Merry Christmas, Happy Birthday, Etc….

Partying with you today. Stop by for a visit if you have the time.

  5. I love old chairs! I would have them all over my house if I had the room. I had to pass up 2 at the thrift store yesterday b/c I just don’t have space.
I love the way your chairs are displayed. They are very pretty!

  6. Wonderful decorating ideas. My neighbor collects vintage chairs and has a tremendous amount of knowledge. He was photographing his for a museum. Another neighbor was bit by the but and has collected over 150 chairs. He has a lot of resources!

  7. I love your cute vignettes with the antique chairs! Very creative!
I have one in my entry hall that was painted black and has a pumpkin painted on the seat. I ‘decorated’ it for Halloween, but haven’t thought of what to do with it recently! You gave me some great ideas.
