Classroom Kids Cupcakes for Back to School
Welcome to Cupcake Tuesday! I’m so glad to have you! I have updated the Cupcake Heaven page, there are over 100 designs and recipes! Check it out!!
Well, here we are…time for School! My younger boys start tomorrow and my oldest that is in college starts next week. We are holding onto every last minute of Summer that we can.
I first saw these fun Classroom Kids Cupcakes over at Wilton, but simplified them for you by using a Vanilla Wafer Cookie instead of the royal icing that they used for the face. I think they are perfect for a Classroom Party, or even a birthday party.
Classroom Kids Cupcake Supplies
- Cupcakes {number of kids if you are taking them for a school party}
- Buttercream Frosting or Decorator Icing
- Vanilla Wafer Cookies {regular size}
- Wilton Food Writers
- Coloring for hair {I used brown, black, yellow and copper/red mixed}
- Coloring for cupcakes {I used purple, blue, pink and green}
- Black coloring for children’s names
- Round Tip #3 or #4
During my trip to Wilton Headquarters, I picked up these Food Writers at the Tent Sale. I haven’t had the opportunity to use them yet, and I seriously think I will be hunting for cupcakes that I can use them on. They are super easy, and are just like you are using a regular marker. They dry quickly and don’t smudge at all.
Add the face to the Vanilla Wafer, being as simple or complex as you like.
Color the frosting in a variety of colors, I used pink and purple for girls, green and blue for boys. Then for the hair, I colored brown, black, yellow and then for the reddish hair, I combined copper and a drop of red. Fill frosting in decorator bags and use either a Round Tip #3 or #4 or both if you like.
Place the face {vanilla wafer} on the cupcake, placing it toward the top, add the hair and then pipe on the children’s names.
Did you see the Pencil Cupcakes I shared in Cupcake Chronicles Newsletter last Friday? Super easy and so much fun!
