Even though I didn’t have much of a plan for my Baking Day earlier this week, I did have any idea of what I wanted to bake. It seems like, although I enjoy baking some of the new recipes, my family doesn’t eat it all that well. So, this time, I really wanted to bake some cookies that my husband and the boys all enjoy.

One of the batches I baked were Peanut Butter. And even though these cookies are on old favorite in our house, the creative side of me came out and I just had to step them up a bit.

Ingredients

  • 3/4 c. Peanut Butter, creamy
  • 1/2 c. Butter Flavor Crisco (I know, it’s shortening, but it really makes the cookies taste good)
  • 1 1/4 c. Brown Sugar
  • 3 T. Milk
  • 1 T. Vanilla
  • 1 Egg
  • 1 3/4 c. Flour
  • 3/4 t. Salt
  • 3/4 t. Baking Soda

Directions

Combine Peanut Butter, Crisco, Sugar, Milk and Vanilla in large bowl. Beat until well blended. Beat in Egg. Combine dry ingredients, add to creamed mixture. Chill dough. Bake at 375 degrees for 7-8 minutes.

Now for the 3 varieties

First, the old favorite, the fork-criss-cross method (yep, that’s the special name) Roll dough into balls, roll in granulated sugar and then use a fork that has been dipped in water to make the criss-cross on top

Next are the cookies topped with a chocolate kiss. I usually make these around the holidays, but couldn’t help myself today.

And last up are the cookies dipped in chocolate. I melted chocolate Almond Bark and dipped one edge of the cookie in, placed it on wax paper to set up. I like using Almond Bark the best, it’s easy and taste good, but you could also melt some chocolate chips.

  1. I love that you did all three things to one batch of cookies. I make them all, but never thought of doing all at once. Those dipped cookies look particularly inviting!

  3. I’m going to pass this recipe on to my daughters who will appreciate one type of dough that will make several types of cookies. Very nice indeed. Have a great weekend.

  4. Yummm–wouldn’t the dipped ones look pretty to dip them in the chocolate, then a few chopped peanuts? My hubby is a big peanut butter fan, I can’t wait to try these.

  5. I like to make one dough and use it different ways. I’ll pass these on to my youngest son who is in charge of the peanut butter cookies around here.
