Dessert Grillers

We kicked off a fun, little series yesterday…Camping Week…with Campfire Cupcakes and Breakfast Hobo Pies. All week long we will be sharing delicious recipes, fun ideas, games and Doug is building a tent. Whether you pitch a tent or just enjoy your yard, all of the Camping Week Ideas can be adapted to fit your style.

These Dessert Grillers went together in about 15 minutes and were so delicious! We all loved them, and they were gone in minutes.

Pound Cake slathered with butter, a sprinkle of cinnamon and sugar grilled to a golden brown, topped with a large spoonful of COOL WHIP Whipped Topping and a gorgeous skewer with fresh fruit…what’s not to love?

These Dessert Grillers are not only perfect for a quick treat while camping, they are also elegant enough to serve at a dinner party with friends. The sprinkle of cinnamon and sugar makes them sweet, but not super sweet. And the addition of COOL WHIP is always a hit!

And topping them off with fresh fruit really made them extra special! You could also add a Chocolate Dipped Strawberry or simply add a few sprinkles. Any way you serve them…I know everyone will love them!

Dessert Grillers

Whether you are camping out or hosting a dinner, these Dessert Grillers are quick, easy and delicious. Recipe from HoosierHomemade.com. Adapted from Simple Desserts

Ingredients

  • 1 package frozen Pound Cake {thawed} and cut into 12 slices {like Entenmann's}
  • 4 cups assorted fresh fruit, cut and slices
  • 12 wooden skewers
  • Butter or Margarine
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 tub {8 oz} COOL WHIP Whipping Topping, thawed

Instructions

  1. Cut and slice fruit, arrange on skewers, set aside
  2. Spread butter on each slice of cake {one or both sides}
  3. Mix sugar and cinnamon, sprinkle over each cake slice
  4. Place cake slice on grill
  5. Grill on both sides until lightly toasted {about 2-3 minutes}
  6. Cool, top with COOL WHIP and fruit skewers

Notes

Liz says...The presentation of these with the fresh fruit was beautiful {and delicious}, but you could also add a Chocolate Dipped Strawberry, Sprinkles or even some crushed cookies. The sky's the limit for toppings.
