Summer Mantel: A fresh new look

By June 8, 2011June 17th, 2015Decorating

Last year I decorated our Mantel for Summer with a fun, whimsical feel. The Pinwheel Garland was so fun, I just had to bring it back this year.

I’ll have to admit I was struggling a bit with the Mantel, I had so many ideas and not really sure which way I wanted to go. So I decided to stick with the color theme. I love the white on the Mantel, but also wanted a pop of color. I had the large candles already, so I shopped the house for other similiar colors, and found some more orange, blue and green, which also went really well with the Pinwheel Garland.

I have created a couple collages to show you the step-by-step process…

  1. First thing, I added the Pinwheel Garland {tutorial on how to make them HERE}
  2. Then came the large pieces on the ends. On the left I added a stack of vintage books and a small lamp.
  3. The other end, I added a large clay pot.
  4. Then came a creamy white vase {that belonged to my Mother}
  5. Ivy from the yard in the clay pot.
  6. Ivy added to the vase at the other end too.
  7. 3 orange pillar candles nestled in a shallow white dish
  8. A small orange tea pot for a splash of color
  9. Some Aqua Mason Jars to bring in the blue
  10. A cream color bird and bright colored votive candles
  11. Plastic grass and a wire chicken with plastic eggs for a little whimsy
  12. Another Aqua Mason Jar and more candles

Have you decorated for Summer yet?
