National Pediatric Dental Health Month

February is commonly known as the month for loving each other. But it is less commonly known as being the month for loving your child’s teeth. February is National Pediatric Dental Health Month. Why do we need a month for this? Well taking care of your teeth is a given practice that we perform every day, so it can become mundane.

This month is to remind everyone that taking care of your teeth is very important, especially at the early stages of life. If your child doesn’t learn good dental health habits, he could pay for it later. Bad breath, cavities,  and gingivitis can all be caused by poor oral care. So every February a focus is placed on teaching oral hygiene to kids.

Invisalign does their best to make dental health for children easy. They do this by offering a replacement for braces that lines up your teeth without the pain and hassle that normal braces come with. Invisalign braces are also invisible, letting your child retain their smile with confidence.

Sometimes taking care of your teeth can be difficult. So I’ve come up with some tips that have helped me and my children with their oral health…

  1. Set a regular time schedule for your family’s brushing time. This will help everyone remember to brush their teeth every day. This is also good for teaching your really young ones proper brushing techniques.
  2. During this time you can make sure your children floss, which is my second tip. This tip is overused, but that’s only because it’s so important.
  3. My final and most important tip for you is to make this brushing time fun. The biggest issue my kids have with brushing is that it bores them to death. So finding a way to make it fun is important.

With these tips in mind, your family’s oral health should be much more manageable.
