Kid’s Summer Survival Kit
My goal here at Hoosier Homemade, as you probably already know, is to help you be a Hero to your Family. Whether you have young children, or grandchildren, or nieces and nephews, this super easy project is definitely going to help you and them kick off the Summer right!
This Kid’s Summer Survival Kit is packed full of fun activities to get the kiddos outdoors, but also has a couple activities for those rainy days. This project is also going to play a big part in the upcoming weekly Summer Scavenger Hunt that we have planned for you, more on than in a bit. For now though, let’s put together some fun!
As you can see, there are plenty of fun activities to choose from, you certainly don’t have to include everything, especially depending on the age of the child. Or maybe there is an activity that your child loves to do, that I don’t have in the Summer Survival Kit, this is a good start though.
We started with a plastic basket that originally had toys in it for the beach. Walmart had everything we needed.
My boys used to love bug hunting. I can’t even begin to tell you how many rocks were given to me, all washed and polished. And how many hundreds of lightening bugs we caught. We included some band-aids too, because you know they are bound to fall down and scrape a knee.
A coloring book or drawing tablet and crayons for a rainy day, or even when they {or you} need a quiet moment. Sidewalk chalk and bubbles are always popular.
A jump rope to promote good physical exercise. And Melty Beads, if you haven’t tried these, you must! They are fun to make and also great for fine motor skills…shhh we won’t tell the kids they are learning at the same time.
Rounding out the basket are a cool pair of sunglasses and a beach towel to lay on the ground.
