Comforts of Home with Bear Creek Soups

Nothing really says the comfort of home more than a delicious, steamy bowl of creamy, hot soup. This time of year we spend planning for the holidays and I start craving my Mom’s homemade soup. The only thing is, I don’t always have time to make her amazing recipes.

The boy’s sports season are winding down but everything else is picking up speed. Christmas programs both in our church and school are starting practices for pageants, company parties are being scheduled, holiday bazaars are happening, as well as extra time with family and friends. Not to mention, how am I going to get all of that shopping, decorating, and Christmas card prep done?

My head starts to spin. As much as I love to cook homemade meals, that is one more stress added to my to-do list. I’m trying to juggle it all, and I’m not feeling successful. I’ve created list after list and now start highlighting my top priorities when all of a sudden, it hits me. I’m hungry.

I look at the clock and see I may have forgotten to eat breakfast, and now it’s lunch time. I know better than to try and skip two meals. I have got to take the time to stop and eat something, anything with nutritional value right now. I search my cupboards when it dawns on me I’ve just purchased the new Bear Creek Hearty Soup Bowls. I bought them for moments just like this one.

I smile and I pick up one of the delicious four choices. Creamy Potato sounds especially comforting to me, so I pick that out of the cupboard and heat up some water. Within minutes my soup is ready, all while I’m still organizing my to-do lists.

Now is the best part. I take the lid off and smell the aroma coming from the bowl. I breathe deeply and smile. It smells like Mom’s kitchen. It’s the first time I’ve allowed myself to relax all day.

My mouth is watering and I decide since it smells exactly like my Mom’s potato soup that I’m going to re-create the entire experience. I move away from the to-do list and allow myself to sit in our Family Room, staring at the view and the rain.

I take my first bite. It tastes exactly the way I thought it would. I close my eyes and allow myself to savor and just take it all in.
