DIY Stars and Stripes Burlap Banner Supplies

  • Burlap Material
  • Triangle Template
  • Scissors
  • Red, White and Blue Acrylic Craft Paint
  • Foam brushes
  • Foam Sticker Stars
  • Twine
  • Painters Tape
  • Glue Gun
  • Iron

First make a template of the size pennants that you want for your banner. I made mine out of cardstock but cardboard would also work well.

Using your template as a guide, cut out all of your pennants from the burlap material. If your burlap is wrinkled like mine, go ahead and give each pennant a quick ironing. Then paint half of your pennants blue and the other half white and let them dry.

Using your painter’s tape, tape off the white pennants in equal parts so you can add your red stripes.

Then paint on the stripes using your red paint. Let dry, and remove your tape.

Add your star stickers to your blue pennants. I found these little foam star stickers at Michael’s and they stick very well!

To complete, attach your pennants to your twine using your hot glue gun and display!

I used double sided sticky tape to hang my banner on my covered front porch. I think it looks so cute and it’s the first thing guests see when they come to visit!
