Homemade Jolly Rancher Lollipops
Happy Friday my friends! Let’s kick off this weekend with a fun little treat that you and your kiddos are going to love…Homemade Jolly Rancher Lollipops! They are easy and of course, delicious!
One of the best parts of my job is sharing simple – easy – creative ideas with you all, that will help you be heroes to your family. Regardless of how old your children are, they will love these Jolly Rancher Lollipops. One of the first things my 16 year old spotted when he got home from school today were these Lollipops. Right away, he asked…”are they free to eat?” And was thrilled when I said yes.
In the past I have made these Homemade Jolly Rancher Lollipops with 3 of the hard candies, but this time I decided they were a little large, so I tried a single candy and also 2. I think they turned out a lot better, but of course, you can use any number that you like.
These make a quick everyday treat, but you could also use them for Birthday Parties, end of the School Year Party, Baby Shower, or you could make them in your favorite team colors for a Sports Party. The ideas are endless, and don’t limit yourself to Jolly Ranchers {of course, we love them} but any hard candy will work.
How to make Jolly Rancher Lollipops
- Preheat oven to 275 degrees
- Unwrap Jolly Ranchers
- Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper on top, spray lightly with non-stick cooking spray
- Lay candy on cookie sheet so that it is touching
- Bake for about 7-8 minutes, keeping a close eye on them, remove from oven when they are melting together but be careful not to leave them too long
- Immediately add the lollipop stick, turning it once to coat
- Let them set at room temperature about 5 minutes to harden
Helpful Tips
- Jolly Rancher candies are available at Walmart, Grocery Stores, even gas stations. If they are available in your area, you can find them online.
- Any type of stick will work – lollipop, popsicle, etc. The lollipop sticks are available at Walmart near the cake decorating supplies or online. They are the easiest to use, because of their shape, but popsicle sticks will work too. There are different sizes of lollipop sticks available, I like the 4 inch ones for these Lollipops.
- Be sure to have the stick ready when you pull them from the oven and immediately gently push them into the soft candy and roll them over so the stick is coated.
- Parchment paper works best. Be sure to lightly spray with cooking spray. You can try Wax Paper, but sometimes the lollipops will stick.

I made homemade lollipops yesterday and I took them out of the fridge today and they started to melt right away. I got the candy to 215F before putting the dye in the liquid and then put the flavoring in after it stopped boiling. The directions to the recipe I used said don’t but the molds in the fridge but the candy molds directions said to put it in the freezer. I don’t know why my lollipops arnt holding? The molds are this rubber material if that makes a difference. You pour the candy into these molds then sick the sticks in vertically.
Hi Christin, sorry I don’t have a really good answer for you. I have never used a mold for lollipops. I found this post although they are not in a mold > http://www.justataste.com/easy-homemade-holiday-candy-lollipops-recipe/

I used a candy thermometer when making lollies. The temperature you need to get to is the hard crack stage 300 f – 310 f. The moulds mentioned are made from silicone. Pour the candy in and leave to set, approx 10 mins. Don’t put the moulds in the fridge as the candy will absorb the moisture and make the candy go soft and sticky.
I would like to make these using butterfly mini cookie cutters. Has anyone tried this? Do you think it would work?
Do you mean cut them out after they are cooked or mold the lollipop into the cookie cutter?

How awesome do these look?! I want to make for myself, just might have to pick up some Jolly Ranchers this week on grocery day.
I always crush the jolly ranchers up and give kids foil molds, then allow them to make desings with the crushed candies. They turn out very cool!
That is a great idea! Thanks for stopping by!

I just wanted you to know that I bought some Jolly Ranchers Lollipop in my Rite Aid Store on 4/4/2015 and when I brought them home to give to my kids they were all broken …….. Not to happy
Hi Lise, sorry to hear that. We don’t have anything to do with Rite Aid Stores. I would take them back and get your money back.
