Birthday Celebration: Ice Cream Bar

Last weekend, we celebrated Casey’s 15th birthday…yes my baby turned 15! {sniff…sniff} We have a new pool this year, so he decided he would like to invite some friends over for dinner, Ice Cream and a swim in the pool.

We kept the food very simple, Hot Dog Bar, Chips and Dip and an Ice Cream Bar. I found everything I needed at Aldi’s. Their new Summer Seasonal Catalog is available in store and online. You can find not only the food you may need for a Picnic, Camping, Fourth of July Celebration or an easy Ice Cream Bar, you can also find items for your backyard like the Gardenline Pop-Up Gazebo or Adventuridge Foldable Chairs.

Here’s what I served…

  • Sundae Shoppe Fudge Swirl Ice Cream
  • Toppings: Berryhill Chocolate Sauce, Caramel and Hot Fudge, Strawberry Preserves
  • Cones: Benton’s Kids Sugar
  • Festive Sprinkles
  • Strawberry Wafer Cookies
  • Watermelon plates and napkins

For the toppings, I just heated them in the microwave for about 1 minute, and served.

My oldest son and girlfriend made me chuckle…when she went to use the sprinkles, she said “wow, so many to choose from” and my son said to her…”oh, you have no idea how many sprinkles my Mom has.”  If you have been here before, you know we love cupcakes and sprinkles too!

Fudge swirl…the best of both worlds…vanilla and chocolate

Yum! Caramel is my favorite!

Casey loaded up his sundae with Hot Fudge Topping!

All the guests enjoyed the Birthday Celebration with the Ice Cream Bar. Later on in the evening we also had S’Mores…

Have you tried the Choceur Chocolate Bar on your S’mores? Delish! All in all…everyone had a great time and the food was definitely enjoyed!

What do you like on your Ice Cream Sundaes? Do you like traditional S’Mores? Or maybe some made with Peanut Butter Cups?

Disclosure: I was sent Aldi gift certificates for the Ice Cream Party. As always, the opinions are my own.

    1. Hi Wilda, I have not shared a coconut strawberry cupcake recipe, there are a few in our family that are allergic to coconut, so I don’t bake with it.
      Sorry about that.
