Farmhouse Valentine’s Day Mantel
Add a special touch to your home for Valentine’s Day with this simple Farmhouse Valentine’s Day Mantel.
Love you to the Moon and Back
It’s a pretty common saying. I tell my boys all the time “love you to the moon and back!”
A couple years back my middle son gave me the chalkboard style canvas. That started a little collection of “love you to the moon and back” pieces. So when I began thinking about the Valentine’s Day Mantel decorations this year, I knew I wanted to incorporate those pieces.
During my after Christmas shopping and the few weeks after that, I kept my eye out for new pieces for the Valentine’s Day Mantel.
Like I shared last week in the Farmhouse Winter Decor post, I’m striving to keep things simple this year. There was a time that I would spend hours and hours on decorating the mantel and filling it with lots of decorations. While I loved all of those mantels, I have come to love the open space of the uncluttered look.
A couple years back, after being inspired by the Holiday Card Display that we shared in the 100 Days of Homemade Holiday Inspiration, Doug built a frame and added the chicken wire to it. It was hanging in our Dining Room, so we re-purposed that and hung the Boxwood Wreath that we added to the Winter Mantel.
Then I began filling in with the Valentine’s Day pieces – some I already had, and a few new ones.
The vintage Valentine’s are some that I found years ago at the local antique store. The “sweet” wood letters, I found at Kroger (I know, it’s a strange place for it) but I loved it. And the “love you to the moon and back” pieces – two of them I have had for couple years, the small tan with black lettering, I found this year at Hobby Lobby. And the little red pitcher is from Marshall’s.
The other half of the Valentine’s Day Mantel has a couple more “love you to the moon and back” pieces. The small chalkboard piece is one that I already had, and the long one is from Marshall’s. The polka dot pitcher is also from Marshall’s, as well as the “love” letters. The “X” and “O” are covered wooden letters from the Valentine’s Day Mantel last year.
I love how simple the decorations are, yet they speak volumes to me.
