Peeps Cupcakes for Easter: Cupcake Tuesday

Welcome to Cupcake Tuesday! I’m so glad to have you! I have updated the Cupcake Heaven page, there are over 100 designs and recipes! Check it out!!

Well, Easter is sneaking up on us pretty quickly. Do you have your menu planned? I’d love to hear what you are making. We will be enjoying our traditional ham dinner with all the delicious extra dishes. And lots of deviled eggs of course.

My inspiration for today’s cupcake didn’t really start with Peeps, at least the traditonal marshmallow puffs of goodness. I have an Easter decoration, that I have had for years, he’s a cute little duck with a furry edge around the top that looks like hair. So, when I was creating cupcakes last weekend, I decided to try to make one look like him. And then while I was taking pictures, it occured to me that the cupcakes looked just like Peeps.

I know I say this all the time…but aren’t they the cutest ever? AND, super easy! Your kiddos will love creating them, especially if they love PEEPS like my boys do.

Peeps Cupcakes Supplies:

  • Cupcakes
  • Yellow Buttercream or Decorators Icing
  • Yellow Gumdrops {small or large}
  • Mini Chocolate Chips
  • Decorator bag fitted with #65 tip

Cupcakes: Bake and cool cupcakes. Frost with yellow buttercream. To get the smooth look, I simply run a knife under hot water and gently smooth the frosting.

Feet, Wings and Beak: Roll out a gum drop {watch my video showing you how} and then using a small sharp knife, cut out the feet and wings. For the beak, cut a small triangle from the gum drop.

Eyes: Place mini chocolate chips pointed side in for the eyes.

Hair: Fill a decorator bag with yellow buttercream, and fit it with tip. I used #65, it’s actually a leaf tip, but I wanted the hair to be more dimensional. You could certainly use a round tip #3 or #4.

Do you love Peeps? Have you ever made anything with them?

Now it’s your turn…show off your cupcake creations! I’d appreciate a link back and be sure to check out the other cupcakes!

    I made some awesome peep cupcakes for my job as baker at a ski resort….I just made basiccupcakes, choco, vanilla, and frosted them in white whoopie pie frosting. I then coverec them in blue or green tinted coconut. Then I stabbed assorted peeps on toothpicks, and put them on the cupcakesbunny peeps on green grass coconut, cheeping peeps paddling thru lovely blue ponds! 🙂 Sold a TON!! Love this blog so much, its a constant source for me and my cupcakes. 🙂
