Witch Fingers Cookies
One of the long time favorite Halloween Treats are Witch Fingers Cookies. Have you tried them? They are really pretty fun to make…and eat!
They are easy to make, but I did figure out a few tricks {ha,ha get it?} that might help you.
Witch Fingers Cookies Supplies:
- Sugar Cookie Dough {recipe below}
- Wilton Finger Cookie Pan
- Almonds
- Red and Black Coloring {be sure you get the No-Taste kind}
- Wax Paper
- Small Paintbrush
First, so they can dry, paint the finger nails with red and black coloring. Lay out a piece of wax paper on a plate {so you can move them easily} and paint the almonds, set aside to dry.
After I made a couple batches that were bumpy and had air bubbles in them, I figured out a few things.
- Roll dough into a smooth ball, about the size of quarter, or a little larger
- Place dough in the pan, in the middle
- Be sure you do NOT spray the pan {tried it, and the cookies were really brown}
- Push the dough from the middle to the edges
- Be sure the pan is not over full. Fill only about 2/3 full, and try to level it the best you can.
- Take the pan and hit it several times on the counter. This will take out as many air bubbles as possible.
- It’s okay to have some air bubbles, I think it adds character to the fingers, but you don’t want a ton.
Decorate:
- After the cookies are cooled and the nails are dry, attach the nail with light corn syrup
- Using red coloring and either a fine paintbrush or toothpick, add the “blood” onto the finger
- I added a few gummy worms and displayed them in the Wilton Treat Boxes

Witch Fingers Cookies Recipe
A fun treat for Halloween. Recipe from HoosierHomemade.com
Ingredients
- 1 cup butter
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
- 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
- 2 3/4 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- Green coloring, optional
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees
- In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar until well blended
- Beat in egg and extracts, mix well
- Combine flour and salt, add to butter mixture, beat well
- Chill dough for at least an hour {it's easier to handle}
- Roll dough into balls
- Place in Finger Cookie Pan and press into mold
- Bake for 8-10 minutes
- Cool in pan 5 minutes
- Turn pan over and tap to remove fingers
- Cool completely
- Add painted almonds for nails and red coloring for blood, optional
