All week I’ve been sharing the Winter Wonderland on Gum Drop Mountain that I created. It’s really tons of fun, and I hope you have been enjoying it.

Yesterday I shared with you how to make the Sweet Skier and Snowman Cupcakes and today we are talking about the animals…Penguin, Polar Bear and Mr. Moose.

Winter Wonderland: Mr. Moose

Winter Wonderland: Mr. Moose

Create a Reindeer for your Winter Wonderland - recipe from HoosierHomemade.com

Ingredients

  • Circus Peanuts {I found them at Walmart in the candy aisle}
  • Chocolate Wafer Cookies
  • Toothpicks
  • Caramels
  • Brown M&M’s
  • Pretzels

Instructions

  1. %http://hoosierhomemade.com/wp-content/uploads/Moose-collage.jpg
  2. Attach 2 chocolate wafers together with frosting. Cut Circus Peanuts in half and poke a toothpick into each.
  3. Push the legs into the body
  4. Soften caramels in the microwave for 2-3 seconds {Be careful they can get hot} and gently mold the snout and head. Break a piece of toothpick and attach them together
  5. Add a M&M for the nose, and using LOTS of patience, break pretzels to form antlers and push them into the head while the caramel is still soft
  6. Add the head to the body with a little frosting and add a piece of pretzel for the tail.

And now for Mr. Moose…he actually didn’t go on top of a cupcake, I just stood him up in the Winter Wonderland.

Back in December, after I shared the Reindeer Cupcakes, I had lots of questions about breaking the pretzels. I really don’t have any good tricks for it, just LOTS of patience. I tried at least 10 or 15 times before I got a couple that I liked.

I loved creating the animals! I think you could use them for many different projects too.
