Let’s chat about these adorable Valentine Cocktail Cupcakes! I’ve shared some Summertime Cocktail Cupcakes before, and they have become such a hit, I thought I’d try them again, and make them special for Valentine’s Day.

I baked them right in the martini glasses, but you could certainly change the glass, as long as it’s glass and not plastic it will work fine. You can watch my video showing you how to bake them.

I started with a Strawberry Cake Mix, and the frosting is just canned. I know, it’s not always the best, but when you are melting frosting, it really does work the best. The rims of the glasses are dipped in water and then in pink sugar or Valentine nonpareils.

I used a variety of decorations; Valentine sprinkles, some candy clay hearts and lips left from last week’s Cupcake Chronicles Newsletter, Wilton icing decorations, and Homemade Gum Drop Hearts {watch for the recipe for those on Thursday},pretty much anything will work.

To make the heart flower bouquet…fit a decorator bag with tip #3 and green frosting, add the stem and some leaves, then add the heart icing decorations.

To make the lips…I used Candy Clay and a cookie cutter that I found at Hobby Lobby. If you are interested in the Candy Clay recipe and instructions, you can find it here, I also shared it in Cupcake Chronicles Newsletter. Read all about the newsletter!

  1. Do you have to use a non stick spray in the glasses?

    1. Hi GG, I did not spray the glass, but you can, I would just spray lightly though.
      Happy Baking!

  2. diane doyle says:

Won’t the glass shatter being so fine from the heat in the oven

    1. No Diane, glass does not shatter in the oven. Just like a glass baking dish. The glasses I used for these cupcakes is also not fine china, they are martini glasses.

  3. Where did you get the glasses? Are they a special kind of glass which makes them okay to put in the oven? I am scared to put them in the oven. I don’t want them to shatter.

    1. Hi Paula, the glasses are from the dollar store. They are nothing special. As long as you use glass it will not break in the oven. Just like a glass baking dish doesn’t break.

  4. Wondering if anyone can tell me about how many martini glasses to use? Thanks

      1. Sorry the martini cupcakes…how many glasses would a box make?

        Thanks

        1. They are about the same size as a regular cupcake size, maybe a little larger. You can easily get 15-20 glasses from one box mix.

  5. Yum! And just in time for Valentine’s day. My husband is going to be at work all day, so not a very romantic day for us. Any way, I suppose you can make every day romantic, especially when you can bake like this. 🙂

  6. I know what I am doing this weekend!!!! What a cute idea. Love your blogs!

  7. Thanks for hosting! I love your Valentine Cocktail Cupcakes! They look awesome!
