Sausage Breakfast Sandwiches and Our Menu Plan

Jump to recipe!

Having a quick breakfast is key in our house! Most mornings the boys are in such a hurry they won’t eat. And trying to get them to eat before they leave for school has been a struggle. They either don’t have time or don’t like what I have to offer.

A couple weeks ago, I made up these Sausage Breakfast Sandwiches and put them in the freezer for the boys to have a quick breakfast before school. They were a real hit, and much cheaper than running through the drive-thru.

With only 3 ingredients, they are super simple…

Make a batch of these Sausage Breakfast Sandwiches from HoosierHomemade.com and have breakfast ready-to-go any day of the week!

Ingredients

  • Sausage
  • Biscuits
  • Cheese

Instructions

  1. Slice sausage with the plastic wrapper on, using a serrated knife {much easier} and bake biscuits. We like the larger fluffy biscuits.
  2. Let them cool a bit, assemble and place in freezer bags.

  4. I write the cooking instructions right on bag with a Sharpie, seal the bag almost closed, then using a straw, suck out as air as possible, close tightly and place in freezer.

  1. I would really really like to try your recipe for Sausage Cheese Biscuits. But I am not understanding it correctly. Sorry. Does that sausage need to be cooked? What kind of sausage do you recommend? When you are baking the biscuits; are you suppose to bake with sausage? When are you suppose to add the cheese?

I would really appreciate your help!

    1. Hi Rachel, All the ingredients are cooked separately and then assembled. I just use breakfast sausage, like Jimmy Deans. Add the cheese after everything is cooked, heat in the microwave a bit if you need to melt the cheese.

  2. I’m going to try these this weekend with eggs. Thinking of wrapping them in Saran and then putting in one large ziploc. Do you think that would work ok?

  3. Those look really good! Have you tried to add egg with them? I’m not sure how they would end up after microwaving though… but I love those sausage & egg muffins from the drive-through.

  4. And what are the reheating instructions?
    Do the biscuits get flabby?
    Thanks!

    1. Hi Amy, just pop them in the microwave for about 20-30 seconds and they come out fine.

I forgot to ask, is that after they are thawed out? I can’t imagine that 20-30 seconds in the microwave when they are frozen would work?

        1. Hi Amy,
Are you talking about re-heating after they have been removed from the freezer the first time or another time?

          1. Amy Durham says:

I mean, when you take them out of the freezer for the very first time, and they are frozen solid. Then what do you do with them?
            Thanks!

          2. Cook them in the microwave 1-2 minutes. You’re welcome 🙂

It does work to use the straw, but if you are using this method on a larger bag, then make sure to squeeze the excess out first. I made lots of 1 cup pepper blend bags to cook with last night, and used this method to get the air out of all of the bags. My husband was thoroughly amused. I figure I just saved $300 for being a human food saver. 🙂

What a great idea!!! I am going to have to make a batch of these (or something similar) this weekend.

  7. I’m laughing at the thought of you sucking air out of the bags with a straw. lOL
