If you are anything like me, you love being outside. Any excuse I can get to be outside, I take it. And now I have an even better excuse with my new Backyard Swing. We have had a pretty mild winter for northern Indiana, but it’s still chilly here. We actually had a bit of snow today. I’m counting the days for the weather to warm up so I can get outside and enjoy the swing.

Recently, our new puppy, Jack, has forced me to be outside in the chilly weather. All of that standing around outside made me so excited for our new swing and our garden this year!

I have always wanted a porch swing, but since we don’t have a porch that would accommodate a swing, this is the next best thing! There are endless ideas for swing frames that can be built in a weekend. We decided to make this one so that we could not only enjoy the swing, but also add plants that will vine up the trellis on each side. I can’t wait to see how it looks with flowers blooming! Do you have any favorite vining plants? For now, because the ground is still frozen, we have not dug the holes to bury the frame and make it more stable. I’m hoping we can do that soon, because I have a book that’s calling my name.

After adding the She Shed last year, we wanted to stick with the Farmhouse style for the backyard. So we chose the Azalea Ridge Better Homes and Garden Outdoor Swing. The swing came with the cushions and we added the pillows. I love that there is a whole Azalea Ridge collection, so we can add more pieces that will match soon. I love the side details and the color of the swing, the cushions add a little pop of color to the yard, but still are neutral enough to stay within the Farmhouse style we are going for. It is really well made- I am excited to have it in my backyard for a long time!
