With all this beautiful weather we have been having, I couldn’t help but get my Spring Decorating started and share it with you! Spring is my favorite time of year, the trees and grass turn green and the flowers start to bloom.

Along with the weather, I also had a little nudge from Lifestyle Crafts. They have a new set of die cuts, Blossom, that was released today. I was excited to get a sneak peak at them and create a Spring Decorating project for you.

Let’s make the flowers, butterflies and birds…

I used some of the scrapbook paper that I found at Walmart, there was plenty left from the Paper Pinwheels. The Blossom die cuts and the Epic machine from Lifestyle Crafts. The cool thing about these die cuts is they are perforated, making them look 3D.

The Twig Tree from the Winter decorating got a little facelift with some plastic grass and bought into the Living Room and placed on the Entertainment Center. I attached the flowers and butterflies with clear thread, and the little birds, I just glued on with Elmer’s Extreme Glue Stick.

Then came the old vintage suitcase…I know…it’s kind of random, but I love it!

The Antique Watering Cans have a new home until it’s warm enough to plant flowers in them and put them on the front porch.

Some moss and little nest that I had on the front porch last Summer, was added next.

And a few plastic eggs to add some color.

Finishing up the display is an old birdhouse that my Dad made years ago.

I was planning on sharing a Halloween idea each day this month, and this Autumn Garland doesn’t really qualify as Halloween, but I simply couldn’t wait to share it with you.

I shared the Shabby Rag Garland last year, but just wasn’t totally happy with it. I love the fabric, but it just needed something else. Then I saw the letters of Autumn spelled out with twigs {sorry I don’t remember where I saw them, probably on Pinterest} and thought it would be cute on scrapbook paper and attached to the Garland.

Let’s make the Autumn Sign, you will need…

Scrapbook Paper or other construction paper

Twigs {just picked mine up in our front yard}

Paper Cutter

Glue

Instructions:

Gather your twigs. I found that the ones that are a little thicker showed up a little better on the paper

Cut the paper 5 1/2 inches by 4 inches {or whatever size you need}

Break your twigs and form the letters

Glue them down and dry for several hours or overnight

To make the Shabby Rag Garland, head on over and grab the instructions or add these to another garland you already have.

Do you remember the wooden box I had on the front porch for the Summer? I brought it inside and filled it with some Fall type items. The grapevine wreath, little birdhouse and a couple Aqua Mason Jars stayed in, then I added a tea pot with apples, a small straw bale, some silk leaves that were leftover from the Mantel Garland and a few pumpkins that I found at Walmart for $.97 cents each.

And my favorite…the Scrabble letters that spell Autumn. I found the Scrabble Game a couple months ago at a Garage Sale for $1.

Total time = less than 30 minutes, including collecting the twigs and finding the paper

Total cost = $-0-

Pretty cute…wouldn’t you say?

I have several wooden Antique Chairs that I have had many, many years. I enjoy decorating with them, they easily tuck into a corner to fill space. And give a little splash of color here or there.

It was well past time, to give our Front Porch a little make-over.

I started with one of the Antique Chairs. The more worn down the better, as far as I’m concerned. You can see, this one even has a broken seat. I had some Red Bud and Flowering Crab branches left over after my indoor decorating, so I added them. I added a grapevine wreath, some clay pots and a couple little birds that I found at the Dollar Store awhile back. And one of my favorite Antique Watering Cans.

I also recently decorated an Antique Chair in the Dining Room.

I simply stacked up some favorite books, added a wooden box and a little ceramic pitcher that looks like an orange. I filled the pitcher with water and added some long pieces of ivy, and just wrapped them around the chair posts.

Both projects took me about 10 minutes each, but I think they make an amazing statement And other than the $2 that I spent about a month ago on the birds, I had everything else on hand.

For more great ideas to save you money, please visit Life as Mom for Frugal Fridays.

Of the many homemaking things I enjoy doing, second to baking, is decorating. And I especially enjoy decorating without spending any money.

I have this little tree in my Dining Room that I change with the seasons and holidays.

Here is the Winter Tree…

I decorate it with white lights, snow flakes and icicles.

This is the Valentine’s Day Tree…

I leave the white lights on, and add some glass heart ornaments that I bought years ago and hearts that are cut out of construction paper.

And right now I have my Easter tree up…

I have Easter egg and carrot lights, and plastic eggs hung on it.

After Easter I will change it to have silk Spring flowers on it and then red, white and blue decorations for summer. I will show you those pictures when the time comes.

While blog hopping recently, I came across http://www.lazyorganizer.com/blog/. Lara has a wealth of information, including her “Talk About Tuesday.” Well, since I’m pretty new around here, I figured I would jump on board.

Today, I would like to share with you some of my frugal decorating ideas. You have met my family in my first post, now you can see a little of my beautiful home.

Among many other special decorations, I collect snowmen. On this shelf, I have put some skates that were found at the thrift shop, some mittens, hat and scarf from my childhood, some dollar store snowflakes and beads, and of course some of my favorite snowmen.

Here is a picture of the front of our home, during one of the many, did I say, many snow storms, we had this year. On the windows, I taped hearts that were cut from construction paper. Oh, and of course, Rocky, our black lab.

This is my Hoosier Cabinet, decorated with some of my snowmen. My father-in-law, Don Latham, gave us the cabinet about 15 years ago. It was stored in his barn, along with many other treasures.
