Well here we are, down to the very end of the Christmas Tree Tour! Thanks so much for hanging in there with me, I just love sharing my passion with you all! Last year I had my Cupcake Tree in my office, but since I changed it up this year at displayed the cupcake ornaments on a cupcake stand, I still needed a tree in my office. And with all the boys in the house, I needed a splash of glam with this Glam Tree!

The cute little table top stands about 4 feet tall. The white tree used to be in the boys room with baseball ornaments, but they decided it was fine for me to use it. I love all the new color combinations that are popping up lately. The bright pink and blue are so fun and really brighten up my office.

The addition of the pinwheels from the Pinwheel Garland adds a lot of whimsy. The clear ornaments, that we found at Michael’s, were filled with candy and what else…cupcake sprinkles.

Another bright pinwheel and some pink sprinkles this time.

For the topper, we cut 22 – 1 inch wide strips of scrapbook paper, looped and glued to form a flower and a leftover snowflake from the Paper Lanterns was added to the middle.

And in case you missed the rest of the Christmas Tree Tour…here’s a look back at them…

We have been busy little Elves creating our Vintage Christmas Decorating here! Earlier this week we shared our Holiday Home Tour, but I wanted to be sure to give you all a little closer look at the Foyer and the cool Ladder in the Kitchen. We created both without spending a single penny!

I love how warm and inviting the Foyer is now. And even though we have a tree with lights, I think we could leave it up all through the winter.

We placed several large branches from the yard in a galvanized bucket and filled it in with some dirt and stones, and wrapped the bottom with burlap. Then the lights were added.

I made some simple paper chains from scrapbook paper that looked like sheet music. The little blue birds add a touch of color and a few wooden snowmen tag ornaments.

Some rustic brown ornaments and another paper chain.

The Aqua Mason Jars are filled with Epsom Salt and a battery operated tea light to add a little glow. I added some twigs and a little green from the yard. We had one lantern left after we decorated the front porch, so it was placed on the bottom step.

An old chair, scarf and pillow were added in and an vintage pair of skates. I just love shopping my house and pulling it all together.

Now moving on to the kitchen…

Vintage {Junky} Kitchen Decorating

I think Doug thought I had lost my mind when I asked him to hang the ladder above the kitchen sink. But after I was done decorating it, he loved it. And I do too…it’s one of my favorite spots this season.

There are a few antique cookie cutters, some celebrate Christmas, some I just love. The chalkboard tags were leftover from the Kitchen Tree, my good friend Gina sent them to me.

I love the mixture of the old red cookie cutter and the copper gingerbread boy.

A few Vintage Ornaments that belonged to my Mother-in-law and a cool vintage kitchen utensil leftover from the Kitchen Tree. The letter was left from the Wine Bottle Cover we created for Gifts from the Kitchen Series on Pocket Change Gourmet.

I used twine to hang everything, and clothes pins to add the greenery from the yard.

So what do you think? Pretty cool? Kinda junky? Kinda vintage?

I love both areas! In fact, I’m really lovin’ all the Christmas Decorations this year!!

As you may have already figured out…we are a little crazy about Christmas. And this year our decorating has taken many twists and turns and ended up with some of our favorite Christmas decorating we have ever had.

You can see the Holiday Home Tour re-cap and today I am sharing the Winter Wonderland Tree we created for the Living Room.

With the addition of the Twig Trees on the Mantel, we wanted to carry the feeling throughout the room. We started with some branches that we gathered outside, put them in a large bucket and filled it with stones.

Then added some spray snow. We used lights that reminded us a little of snow and also lights that you would see outside. A few white balls that resembled snow balls were hung, some snowflakes and icicles.

I traced an angel and dove patterns onto velum scrapbook paper and simply cut them out. The patterns are from Holiday with Matthew Mead. All the ornaments were hung with fishing line.

I think the Winter Wonderland Tree looks a lot better at night.

Welcome to our Holiday Home! I absolutely LOVE this time of year, our home becomes magical! Each year I think that we have found the perfect way to decorate every corner of our home to celebrate Christmas and all the trimmings. And each year we seem to find a new way to decorate. Many of our decorations this year were transformed with an unusual and unique twist – vintage, rustic, antique, and a little junky but SUPER cool!

The Front Porch is decorated with garland and vintage items that we have acquired over the years. It is but the first stop on the tour and sets the tone of what’s in store for our guests.

We welcome our guests with a trio of woodland inspired trees as we use natural textures to highlight the feeling of the outside.

And these Paper Lanterns provide the perfect accent.

Then we move into the foyer which has become my favorite area, with a hand full of tree branches and some simple decorations this small display welcomes you and provides a glimpse of what is to follow. More details coming soon! Update: A closer look at the Foyer

The Rustic Christmas Mantel is always a favorite area of mine too! With the addition of burlap, mini twig trees and the pinecones, it’s definitely a focal point in the room.

The Main Family Tree is decked out with white lights, more burlap and all the ornaments we have collected over the years.

Santa is bringing some presents and a tree in his cool vintage car. The old slate board in the back is from my sister-in-law {thanks D!} and I simply wrote ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas on it with regular chalk. An old sled and a few vintage toys pulls it all together.

Here’s a little sneak peek at the Winter Wonderland Tree, seems like bringing the outdoors inside is the theme for Christmas this year. Watch for the tutorial on how we made this coming soon!

Update: Winter Wonderland Tree Tutorial

And the Entertainment Center holds many of the Santa collection. Now let’s move into the Dining Room, which is now the Snowman Room.

The Snowman Tree is one of the trees that is very similar to last year’s tree.

The Kitchen Tree that I shared in Splendidly Homemade Magazine, was moved to the opposite corner, and more Snowmen added to the Buffet.

The table holds a large basket filled with little lights, snow, jars and of course, Snowmen!

The Hoosier Cabinet is also decorated similar to last year, with lots of Snowmen that I have collected over the years.

A mini tree with a few snowmen hanging out!

The Christmas Ladder Tree that was in the front foyer, found a new home in the Dining Room.

And we certainly can’t forget the Kitchen…let’s take a look…

I’ll be sharing the details for the Cupcake Tree tomorrow on Cupcake Tuesday, so be sure to stop back and check out all the yummy cupcakes that are shared too!

Update: Here is all the info on the Cupcake Tree.

And above the kitchen sink, we added this cool, vintage…kind of junky, but it’s one of my favorite things – Wooden Ladder. More details to come on this too! Update – A closer look at the Kitchen Ladder

So there you have it…at least most of it…our Holiday Home! We will still be sharing a few more fun projects and of course, more delicious recipes to come too!

Thanks for stopping by! I’m thrilled to have you join us!

It seems like our Christmas decorating this year has been really unique, from the decorations on the front porch to the addition of the burlap on the Mantel…most everything is different, unusual and definitely unique. I like it that way…it’s pretty cool!

When I received my new Epic Tool for Die Cuts from Lifestyle Crafts a couple weeks ago, Doug and I couldn’t wait to dive in and see what we could create.

A couple years ago, we made the Copper Walkway Lanterns after seeing them in the Gooseberry Patch Christmas 2009 Book. We tried to cut back on expenses a little and we used regular metal flashing and spray paint them copper. While they looked alright, they just didn’t seem to be the best. So we packed them away, hoping the time would come that we could use them…well, the time has come and I’m super excited with how they turned out.

The Paper Lanterns were very easy, although they did take a little patience and time. Here is what we used to create them…

Epic Tool for Die Cuts

Snowflake die cut - there are hundreds and hundreds of die cuts to choose from at Lifestyle Crafts, we thought the snowflakes would be great to use, then we can leave them up even after Christmas

Scrapbook paper

Velum scrapbook paper

Glue – a regular glue stick will work for the snowflakes but you will need something pretty strong for the edges, we used Elmer’s Xtreme Glue Stick

Clothes pins to hold the lantern while it’s drying – optional but much easier

Copper lantern or you could even just set these in a clay pot or on a small plate, depending on where you are going to use them

Battery operated tea lights

After you cut out the snowflakes or other design, glue them onto a velum paper. Remember to glue them right side down so that the pattern shows through the velum.

Glue one edge all the way down, then attach to make a circle. Use clothes pins to hold the edges and place a bottle to weight it down. Let it set for at least 15 minutes.

As I said, we made these lanterns with metal flashing and spray painted them copper. You could certainly also use heavy card stock paper to create them.

On top you will need some metal brads and a hole punch.

And then use heavy wire to hang them.

Another one of the unique Christmas trees we created this year, is this grouping. We used 3 trees in varying sizes and placed them close together in the foyer. And yes…I know I already showed you the Christmas Ladder Tree that we put in the foyer…but sometimes most of the time things change around here. Can I just say I have most wonderfully patience and helpful hubby EVER!!

I used short pieces of burlap and wired them on, created snowflakes from twigs and added red wooden beads, some birds nests and mini clay pots.

Then we added battery operated tea lights for a warm glow. Our new Paper Lanterns will greet our guests this holiday season. Watch for some fun cupcake wrappers and a darling tag wreath coming soon!

I’m so excited to share my Rustic Christmas Mantel with you! Although I loved the Mantel we decorated last year, I really love the rustic feel and simplicity of this year’s creation.

After decorating the Dining Room Chandelier and Table, we loved the burlap mixed with fresh green and the whimsy of the wooden clothes pins so much we decided to carry the theme into the Living Room and add it to the Mantel.

The base of the garland is artificial greenery, then strips of burlap about 6 inches wide were pinned on with clothes pins. The clothes pins were a huge time saver. It usually takes me at least an hour to wire together the garland, but with the clothes pins, it was done in about 10 minutes. The garland was wired onto the Mantel and then I added some fresh green and a few pinecones.

I have been wanting to change the large star that we have had above the Mantel since we first decorated 4 years ago when we moved into our home. Christmas decorating was a perfect opportunity and I’m so glad I did. I love the wreath!

I decorated it the same way I did the garland, starting with an artificial green wreath, added some burlap, fresh green and a few pinecones.

The woodland Santas not only give a rustic Christmas feel but add the warmth of the season to the Mantel.

When I first saw the Twig Trees that Gina shared in Splendidly Homemade Magazine, I knew I wanted to add them to our Christmas Mantel. I started with a clay pot, and spray painted it black. Then using LOTS of different size twigs, I just glued and glued. For a complete tutorial, visit Shabby Creek Cottage…she’s awesome!

Well, I’m back again today with another fun themed Christmas Tree. We are enjoying the Ladder Tree that we put up in the front foyer. And making our way around the house, decorating like little elves.

Today we are sharing our Photo Tree…you have heard of Cookie Exchanges, and of course exchanging presents…well how about a Gift Card Exchange. Instead of mailing out your Christmas cards this year, host a simple get together for family and friends and exchange Christmas cards.

Our Photo Christmas Cards are from Tiny Prints, when I saw the cute little round photo cards, I thought they would make perfect decorations for a themed tree. And you all know how I love to decorate themed Christmas Trees.

We simply punched a hole in the top of the cards {some already had a hole}, tied them up with a ribbon and hung them on the tree.

Whether you host a Christmas card exchange or not, I think the Photo Tree is a fun way to display family photos and Christmas cards from past years as well as this year.

Visit Tiny Prints and check out all the great holiday cards they have!
