snickerdoodle-cookies

Yesterday, my son had his girlfriend over for dinner. He decided to cook for her, he made Oriental Noodles and I put together a Salad. Earlier in the day he also mixed up a batch of Snickerdoodle Cookies, then I baked them later.

Snickerdoodle Cookies

1 c. Butter Flavor Crisco                           2 t. Cream of Tartar

1 1/2 c. Sugar                                                1 t. Baking Soda

2 Eggs                                                               3/4 t. Salt

2 T. Milk                                                          1 t. Vanilla

2 3/4 c. Flour

Cream Crisco, 1 1/2 c. Sugar, eggs, milk and vanilla in large bowl until well blended. Combine flour, cream of tartar, baking soda and salt. Mix into creamed mixture. Chill to make handling easier. Shape into balls and roll in 1/2 c. Sugar and 2 t. Cinnamon mixture. Bake at 400 for 7-10 min.

I had a friend in college that we called Hoosier. That is so funny. Wow your son can make these. Wow.

These are a classic and so easy to make (at least it sounds like it).

Can I use real butter in place of the crisco?

    Liz Reply:

Sure, I don’t see why not. I like the Butter Flavor Crisco because it makes the cookies soft, but real butter will do the same.

  8. Don’t have a snickerdoodle recipe and the only time my kids get these is out at their grandmother’s (and they are rarely there). Sounds like your son knows what he’s doing! I LOVE this and that you were so sweet to help him. :)

    Blessings!
