Rainbow Cupcakes in a Jar for a Baby Shower

Simple, easy and creative recipes and projects delivered straight to your inbox.

Today we are celebrating the birth of a beautiful baby girl! I’m joined by 16 other very talented bloggers to celebrate the birth of Meaghan’s baby! I had the pleasure of meeting Meaghan during the Hershey’s trip last month, so when I was asked to share a special treat for her Baby Shower, I was super excited!

These Rainbow Cupcakes in a Jar are fun to serve for any occasion and sure to bring a smile!

The cupcakes are baked right in the jar. Any size jar will work, I happen to find these at Hobby Lobby, I think they are the perfect size. Depending on the jar size, you will need to adjust the amount of batter added. I usually add about 1 tablespoon of each color of batter.

Now let’s celebrate Baby Violet!

Rainbows bring smiles to everyone's face! Bake a Rainbow in a Jar. Recipe from HoosierHomemade.com
Ingredients
  • 1 white cake mix
  • Plus ingredients for cake mix – I use 4 eggs, 1 cup buttermilk and ⅓ cup oil to make the cake mix taste more like homemade
  • Wilton coloring – red, orange, yellow, green, blue and violet
  • Frosting
  • Rainbow sprinkles
  • Small jars
Instructions
  1. Mix cake until well blended
  2. Separate batter into 6 bowls – about ¾ cup in each
  3. Color each
  4. Preheat oven to 350 degrees
  5. Add about 1 tablespoon red batter to each jar {depending on the size of jar}
  6. Spread batter evenly and repeat with all colors
  7. Bake for about 10-15 minutes {depending on the size of jar} and test with a toothpick to make sure they are done
  8. After the cool, add frosting and sprinkles
Notes
Any size jar will work. You can find them at most department stores and craft stores like Hobby Lobby.
