Outdoor Summer Party

I’ve asked my friend and fellow Creative Circle Blogger, Lisa from The Pennington Point to stop by today and share her beautiful Outdoor Summer Party with you all!

I’m so excited to be hanging out here with you all! I’m no cupcake lady, but I do like a pretty party, so I thought I’d share with you how my husband and I celebrated our 25th anniversary in style.

It was a beautiful outdoor summer party!

The first job in party planning is to choose your colors. Everything falls into place after that and helps narrow the options, which I need otherwise I bounce all over the place. So once I chose my colors I went to work. I found serving trays that I knew I would be able to use again for casual summer guests, drinking cups on clearance at a local shop and even used silverware from a thrift store that I painted the handles to match the party.

It was fun trying to find what I needed on a budget. Making the most with what I already had and bargaining for the rest made it a challenge I could embrace. I did splurge and order these beautiful napkins to top off the table settings.

The little bags filled with dinner mints were a take home gift for our guests. And I used my die cut machine to add the guests names to their cups. This served as personalized decor and place cards.

But the dessert table was my favorite part of the evening. Of course….who doesn’t love dessert?!

The same trays I used for serving the food, I flipped upside down and put the dessert on. LOVE! I used a mold from the craft store to coat my Oreos with chocolate. Then I used chocolate transfer sheets to add the gorgeous design on the top. They were a real show stopper!

I cut the brownies and lemon bars into circles as well, to continue the cuteness. I bought pre-cut cheesecake bites and even had fruit for the guests that didn’t want the sugar, although I really don’t understand those people.

And there’s nothing like apothecary jars filled with matching candy to finish off a pretty dessert table.

It was a dreamy evening and everyone had a lovely time. You can read more details…

Thanks to Liz for letting me hang out with you today and share my favorite outdoor summer party. Now that I’ve looked at the pictures, I’m going to pull out the trays and have another get together!

  1. Di, yes they are paper! I got them at Michael’s in the baking section. They have a little bit of a wax coating so they didn’t soak through or leak. Lisa~

  2. Hi! I am wondering what the little fluted cups are that you served the desserts in. They’re adorable, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything like it. Are they paper?

    Thanks!
