Starting with the new Pillsbury seasonal flavor Orangesicle Cake Mix, I added my usual ingredients to make it taste more like homemade.

Then the zest of 1 large orange to give it a little more flavor.

The frosting is also from the new Pillsbury seasonal flavors, Orangesicle and it’s mixed with a little whipped topping.

Any glass jar will work, I like the half pint size, they hold 1 cupcake perfectly. After the cupcakes are cooled, use a serrated knife and cut into thirds. Fit a decorator bag with a large round tip and fill with Orangesicle frosting. Layer the cupcake and frosting, finishing with the frosting and topping it off with a candy orange slice.

  7. wow…AND yum…this sounds delish…Creamsicle a childhood fave…the keylime cake mix looks great too.
ONE of my fave lighter summertime desserts and a long held family deep south tradition is our pea pickin cake! My grandma’s family have farmed for over 200 years in Georgia (Georgee) 🙂 , mostly tobacco, cotton and pecans (pee cans) 🙂 …The women folk were not only required to be in the fields to help during harvest but to also prepare dinner and supper too. Therefore, pea pickin cake was created, because it was a light cake…perfect after Pickin in the hot fields all day…and quick to come together too. Thanks.
