Halloween Decoration: Crashing Witch

Jump to recipe!

This is such a fun Halloween Project! I’ve been wanting to share it with you ever since we made Witchy Poo aka “Crashing Witch” last year. I ran out of time to share her last year, so we grabbed some new supplies from Walmart so we could show you a step-by-step.

As always, let’s gather our supplies…

Crashing Witch Supplies:

  • Cauldron {found in the Halloween aisle}
  • Tights {found in the Halloween aisle}
  • Green Fluorescent Paint {we bought Bright Neon Rust-Oleum}
  • 2 cans Dow Great Stuff Insultaing Foam Sealant {you will use about 1+1/2 cans, depending on the size of your cauldron}
  • Spray bottle with water {not pictured}
  • 2 limbs for the legs {we used about 2 inch in diameter, the more knots on the limbs the better}
  • Plastic bags and filler material
  • Newspapers to wrap Witchy up
  • Shoes or Boots {we found these at Goodwill, last year we used some of my old boots, any will work as long as they fit the limbs}

  1. Place your limbs in the cauldron and try on the shoes to make sure they fit
  2. Fill cauldron with plastic bags or packing material. It’s best to have a helper with this so the legs will stand up straight.
  3. Fill almost to the top with bags
  4. Add the tights. I cut the legs off from the top

  1. Start spraying in the Foam Sealant. Add around all the edges first
  2. Continue to spray until the entire top of the cauldron is covered. Remember the foam will expand, but you still want a good amount. Use 1 full can and then part of another, depending on the size of your cauldron
  3. Spray foam with water. This will help it cure faster
  4. This is the foam after it’s completely dry. It took several hours for this step.

  1. Remove the shoes and wrap the legs and around the cauldron with newspapers. Use a butter knife to push the newspaper into the cracks, if needed.
  2. Spray with paint
  3. Be sure to get on the bottom of the foam too
  4. Now Witchy is all painted, let dry about an hour

Remove newspapers and put her shoes on.

And then whip up a batch of Cauldron Cupcakes to go with your Witchy Poo!

Directions for the Cauldron Cupcakes are in Cupcake Chronicles Newsletter today. Stay tuned for more GREAT Halloween treats!
