The Super Bowl is this weekend! Are you hosting a party? Well…I sure hope so because you are going to LOVE these Party Printables!! My favorite gal, Charlotte from The Paper Cupcake has once again totally amazed me with her talent!

Of course, I just had to add some Super Bowl Cupcakes to make the party even more fun, with their cupcake toppers and football wrappers! And the drink flags and wraps are the CUTEST ever!

Super Bowl Cupcakes with Cupcake Toppers and Football Wrappers

Color icing green and use a decorator tip #233, fitted in a decorator bag for the grass
Punch out Cupcake Toppers and add to a lollipop stick
Add Football Wrapper to cupcake

First Down Punch with Drink Flags and Wraps

Add Drink Wraps to glasses and flags to straws
Mix 2 pitchers each of Red and Blue Kool-Aid
Add a strawberry and a few blueberries to the glasses
Fill about 2/3 full with Kool-Aid and fill the rest with Sprite

MVP Football Sandwiches

Better Than Brownies

So let me tell you about my love-hate relationship with brownies. I love eating them…hate baking them! Yup..sorry I do! I have tried and tried to find a recipe that was fudgy but not too fudgy…cake like but not too cakey, etc. etc. I had finally given up and just decided to use a box mix, which also didn’t always come out right.

And then…the new Gooseberry Patch Cookbook…Rush-Hour Recipes arrived. I have used many Gooseberry Patch recipes over the years, and absolutely adore many of their cookbooks, so when I had the opportunity to review {and YES host a giveaway} for their new book, I was super excited!

I handed the book to Doug, while he was watching a movie and told him to pick out a recipe to try. Well, of course, being just like a man, he chose Saucy Short Ribs and Sausage Bean Gumbo! Oh no – no – no! I need a dessert! My readers want me to share an ooey – gooey – delicious dessert with them. And of course, with Valentine’s Day right around the corner…you needed another gorgeous dessert for your sweetie!

Enter…Better Than Brownies

You are going to flip out when you see how easy they are to make! Just 3 ingredients!! Yup…well unless you add the chocolate chips and nuts to the top, which of course you must do! Oh and the frosting…yes! You MUST slather it on!! You heard that right…I told you to slather the frosting on!!

Before we get to the recipe though, let’s chat a minute about this new Gooseberry Patch Cookbook; Rush-Hour Recipes. Just like these Better Than Brownies, the whole book is full is quick, easy recipes for you to…you guessed it…get on the table fast! There are 5-ingredient favorites, One-Dish Dinners, Slow Cooker Recipes, Soup Recipes, Make-A-Meal Sides and Speedy Potluck & Party Foods!

And guess what? I have a Rush-Hour Recipes Cookbook for one lucky Hoosier Homemade reader! You didn’t think I was going to forget about our week long celebration did you?

So what’s the secret to these delicious Brownies? Chocolate pudding…just one small box. Oh and the frosting helps quite a bit too. Now, of course, they are delicious without the frosting, and actually the recipe in the book doesn’t call for frosting, but with Valentine’s Day coming up, I just had to add the little pink to them.

Better Than Brownies Recipe

Prep Time: 5 minutes

Cook Time: 30 minutes

The BEST Brownie I've ever had! And only 5 ingredients. Recipe from HoosierHomemade.com Adapted from Rush-Hour Recipes

Ingredients

Brownies

1 small box Cook & Serve Chocolate Pudding - NOT instant
1 box Chocolate Cake Mix {I used Devil's Food}
2 cups milk
1 cup chocolate chips
1 cup nuts, chopped

Frosting

1 8 oz. tub Cool Whip frozen whipped topping
1/4 cup Marshmallow Fluff
2-3 drops coloring - optional
Valentine Heart Sprinkles - optional

Instructions

Brownies

Preheat oven to 350 degrees
Line a 13x9 pan with foil and spray with non-stick cooking spray lightly
On a stove top, combine the milk and pudding mix, cook until slightly thickened
In a large bowl, add the cake mix
Add the pudding directly from the stovetop and combine well {the mixture looks really strange, but trust me, it is delicious}
Spread brownies into pan and press down with your fingers {be careful it might be hot}
Sprinkles with chocolate chips and nuts
Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean

Frosting

In a large bowl, combine Cool Whip, Marshmallow Fluff and coloring
With a large whisk, whip frosting until fluffy
After the brownies are cool, cut into squares, frost and add sprinkles

Well here we are, day 3 of our week long celebration! Have you seen the new design? We are so excited with how it looks, but most importantly how it works. It’s so much easier to find what you need, whether it’s a cupcake design, recipe or DIY project.

One of our goals when we were first started talking about the re-design was to make the decorating and DIY projects more visible. Doug and I love to build, decorate and remodel pretty much everything in our house. All the way from a simple rearrangement of furniture…

On Inspiration Sunday, I shared the beginning of our newest project with you…the Office Desk. While we were shopping at The Home Depot for the Kwikset Lock, we decided to look around for what we needed for the desk. We found everything we needed and although Doug knows a lot about wood and building, we still had lots of questions. We wandered around the store, finding lots of help and willing employees.

Valentine’s Cupcakes: Puppy Love Pops

All this week we are celebrating Hoosier Homemade’s Anniversary…it’s been 3 awesome years and we are super excited!! Yesterday was the launch with a whole new design and my new eBook…Cupcakes! 12 Months of Happiness! Don’t miss the giveaway!

We continue the party today with the new book from my all time favorite cupcake authors, Karen and Alan…Cupcakes, Cookies & Pies, oh my! is released today! But YOU get a sneak peek!

This new book is full of fun new designs, and not just cupcakes. Karen & Alan have taken their love for the over the top but easy cupcakes, and expanded it to cookies and pies! Since Valentine’s Day is only a couple weeks away, I just had to make the Puppy Love Pops for you! You are going to LOVE them!

I’m seriously in love with these little guys…Puppy Love that is! hehe So how about if I show you how to make them? I bought everything at Walmart. The pink forks can be found in the party section, they come in a package with spoons and knifes and are only $.97 cents.

Puppy Love Pops Supplies:

Frozen Pound Cake
Vanilla & Chocolate canned frosting…I know, but it really melts the best
Pink Forks
Ears – Tootsie Rolls and Caramels
Fur – Graham Crackers and Oreos, crushed
Mouth – Conversation Hearts
Nose – Mini Red M&M
Eyes – Mini chocolate chips

Cut 1/8 inch off each end of the pound cake, then cut into 1 inch – the cake I bought had handy little marks every inch. Using a 2 inch heart shaped cookie cutter, cut out hearts. The book says you can get 2 hearts from every piece of cake, I was only able to get 1, so it definitely depends on the size and shape of your cookie cutter.
Push the forks into the cake, place them on a a cookie sheet with wax paper and freeze at least 15 minutes
Meanwhile, make the ears, soften caramels and tootsie rolls, one at a time, in the microwave 3-6 seconds, be careful handling them. Roll out with a rolling pin and cut out a tear drop shape. I made a template with parchment paper. Lay on wax paper and set aside. Crush graham crackers and oreos and place in small bowls.
Reserve about 1/4 cup vanilla frosting for decorating the face. Combine the remaining vanilla frosting and 1/4 cup chocolate frosting and melt in microwave about 20-30 seconds, you want the consistency to be like heavy cream {unwhipped} Dip cake into frosting, coating both sides. Sprinkle with crumbs, and place on wax paper. Put back into freezer.

I found it best to let them freeze another 15 minutes or so, they were easier to handle.

Then with the reserved vanilla frosting, add the nose, eyes, mouth and ears. Just adorable!!

I found this adorable video for creating the Baa Baa Black Sheep, be sure to watch until the end and see what the black sheep does to the white sheep…so funny!
