Decorating your home for Winter

Simple, easy and creative recipes and projects delivered straight to your inbox.

The holidays are over, the decorations are taken down, now what? Does your house look really bare?

I decorate for each season, and especially enjoy decorating for winter. Leaving my snowmen collection out for a few extra months after the holidays fills our home with love and happiness.

Here is a little home tour for you to enjoy and hopefully be inspired by…

Our mantle, I use a wool fabric runner, ice skates that I bought years ago at Goodwill, a hat and scarf, antique mittens, some snowball candles and of course snowmen.

The Entertainment Center is decorated with an antique sled (left up from Christmas) ice skates and Snowmen.

And on the door of the Entertainment Center is a hanging that I made years ago.

The wooden rocking horse has even gotten into the spirit of winter.

For Christmas, I decorated the Hoosier cabinet with my  Snowman collection, I changed it a little for winter.

I’ve added a few Snowmen to the Buffet.

I especially had fun adding some of my favorite Snowmen ornaments to my Little Tree. I leave this tree out year round and change it for the holidays and seasons.

I love the vintage feel that you achieved with the mittens and ice skates!

My home is cozy for the winter, not via decorations, but by lots and lots of throws and blankets laying around available to snuggle up in at any time and tons of hot cocoa ready in minutes. Not a “cute” or “designer” look, but it certainly makes us feel cozy.

Living in Michigan I also decorate for winter. We will have our last snow fall typical in April. Yes, the children hunt for eggs in the snow.
I keep my snowman back and put them out after Christmas.
I also leave evergreen swags and twinkle lights up on my mantle and vintage kitchen cabinet. I replace my santa collection with my snowmen and add snowflakes.
I really like the idea of the skates and mittens!
My outside decorations stay out and light all thru January and sometimes February unless we have a really warm day!
