Closet Organization

Jump to recipe!

I really enjoy my boys being home during the summer, but it seems like there is so much going on I never have time to get any real housework done. Last week, after the boys had gone back to school I tackled their closets. Especially my youngest son’s, it was really bad. I will have to say though, in his defense, it wasn’t all his fault. My middle son likes to pick up, but most of the time, just throws whatever he is picking up into the nearest closet, which was usually my youngest son’s.

You can see by these pictures how bad it was

I began, as I always do with any organizing task, by removing everything (well except the clothes on hangers)

I divide everything into piles of like items, for example, these toys

Many years ago, we bought these organizers with drawers, I have the 3 drawer units in the closets with clothes, underwear, socks, etc. And the larger unit for toys.

After putting all the toys in the drawers they belonged, organizing the clothes (I like coordinating the clothes by color), storing some things away in the attic and making a large pile of garage sale and Ebay items to sell, this is how the closet looked when finished.

  1. you’ll be able to see what you have as a whole and you’ll have an easier time choosing what to wear even if you only have 10 minutes to get ready. Cleaning and organizing your clothes will ensure they last longer and your closet will look like a mini-boutique whenever you open it.

  2. Hey there!
I am visiting from Raise Them Up’s blog. I noticed your name… and had to look. My family and I use to live in NW Indiana too. 🙂

Anyway, great job on the organizing. Life would be much more simple if things stayed that way, huh?? 🙂 Have a great day!
