I know it seems a little early to start our Summer Decorating, but I got so busy that the Hoosier Cabinet never got decorated for Spring. So I gathered up my scrapbook paper and looked over the colors for inspiration. I was planning on using the Lifestyle Crafts Fancy Envelope Tabs Die Cuts to make a banner, and then spotted the red, white and blue paper and quickly decided a Summer Theme would be perfect.

We have started to prepare the house for Nick’s graduation party, so every little bit that I can get done now will help later.

Bringing in all the elements that we love about Summer, I added items for a Picnic, roasting S’Mores and Baseball. A large part of our Summer is spent at the ball park and Nick’s graduation party will be a Baseball Theme {more on that soon}, so the Baseball Mitt was a perfect addition.

On the top, I added an Antique Metal Picnic Basket, a flag that belonged to my great-grandfather, Aqua Mason Jars and a pitcher filled with ivy cut from the yard and a few red, white and blue items to add some color.

On the middle shelf, I added a very old Colonial Banner and the Baseball Mitt.

More of my favorite…Aqua Mason Jars were added to the next shelf, a slice of watermelon, some Chocolate Kisses and Summer spelled out with Scrabble Tiles..fun!

Then came the goodies for a picnic and our favorite…S’Mores! The giant marshmallows in the jar, graham crackers, chocolate bars and the marshmallow roasting sticks. A Vintage Gingham Check Apron and a glass pitcher filled with red and blue straws and more Scrabble Tiles spelling Picnic completed the shelf.

And now…this adorable and SUPER easy Summer Flag Banner…

I hope you still have room on your Easter Dessert menu to add one more treat! This Lamb Cake is simply adorable. I remember years ago the star of every Easter Dessert table was a Bunny Cake. So when I spotted the Chubby Little Lamb Cake in a cookbook, I thought he would be fun to share with you!

He’s not difficult to make, but did take some time. Our family doesn’t like coconut, so I coated the Lamb Cake with White Chocolate Curls that I made with Wilton Candy Melts. The body is baked in a large bowl, two small bowls for the head and mini cupcakes for the top of the head, nose and tail. The face and ears are made with Starburst candy and M&M’s for the eyes, and a pretty ribbon to get him all ready for Easter Dinner.

How to make Chocolate Curls:

Add 1 package of Wilton white candy melts and 2 tablespoons shortening to a medium bowl

Melt in microwave about 2 minutes, stir candy until smooth

Add a piece of parchment paper to a square dish

Pour melted candy into dish and place in freezer for about 15 minutes

Remove and let set out a couple minutes

Using a potato peeler, shave off chocolate to form curls

Store in fridge until ready to use

Ahh…the flavors of Spring…lemon, lime…orange! Spring is my favorite season! Of course, I love the flowers and trees blooming, but the baking…it makes me happy! These Orange Creamsicle Push Pops bring back fond memories of the Ice Cream Truck…running inside and asking my Mom for a quarter and flagging down the driver. I don’t think you can buy anything for a quarter anymore…I guess that dates me!

After creating the Ice Cream Cone Cupcakes with Bubble Gum Frosting with Duncan Hines Frosting Creations, I just couldn’t help but try the other flavors. And since the Irish Cream Push Pops were such a fun treat, I knew these Orange Creamsicle Push Pops would be perfect for you to add to your Easter Dessert List!

Creating the Orange Creamsicle Push Pops are loads of fun and the perfect baking project with the kiddos, they will love layering the Orange Cupcakes, Orange Creme Frosting and Sprinkles…and of course eating them too.

I was excited to have the opportunity to create the Orange Creamsicle Push Pops for Duncan Hines! You can create your own recipe and submit it to the Frosting Creations Recipe Challenge for a chance to win a trip to the Duncan Hines Test Kitchens!

You can make the Orange Creamsicle Push Pops ahead of time, but you will need to keep them in the fridge until serving time. Here’s what you will need…

Welcome to Cupcake Tuesday! Be sure to check out the ALL NEW Cupcake Heaven page! And if you are in need to a special cupcake design, use the “Be a Hero” area!

Carrot Cake is one of those traditional cakes that I remember my Mom baking years {and years} ago. The moist cake is chock full of goodness…carrots, raisins, nuts and spices. And although Carrot Cake has been around for a very long time, it never goes out of style.

What better cake to celebrate Easter than with a Carrot Cake? Well…Carrot Cake Cupcakes, of course!

Typically Carrot Cake has Cream Cheese Frosting, but I wanted these Cupcakes to have a light and fluffy frosting to enhance the moist, rich flavors in the cake. A simple combination of Cool Whip and Marshmallow Fluff was perfect. And with the addition of Reese’s Pieces shaped to look like a carrot, they are the perfect Easter Cupcake!

The Easter Bunny is sure to be pleased with these…

And with all the other Easter Candy the Easter Bunny has, he will be excited to know that these Carrot Cake Cupcakes {without the frosting and decoration} are low in sugar. Truvia Baking Blend is the star of this cake with 30% fewer calories and 60% less sugar.

After trying Truvia Natural Sweetener awhile back in Cranberry Relish , I was really excited to see their new Truvia Baking Blend! And I must say…I was very pleased! The Truvia Baking Blend did not change the flavor in the Carrot Cake Cupcakes, and in fact…I think it enhanced it.

Don’t let the large list of ingredients scare you away, this cake went together really quickly and the little extra effort of chopping carrots and nuts is WELL worth the effort.

Carrot Cake is one of my favorite cake flavors, and this recipe turned out great. When using Truvia in other recipes, use 50% of the sugar amount in the recipe.

Is it just me or are you all in shock that it’s almost Easter? I really can’t believe where the time goes. There are lots of fun Easter Treats on my list…I just hope I have time to share them with you. So let’s get started…Easter Doughnut Pops…

So what do you think? I think your kiddos will love them! Although…I wasn’t really sure what to call them…

Easter Doughnuts on a Stick

Doughnuts and Peeps on a Stick

Peeps with Doughnuts on a Stick

Easter Doughnuts

Or maybe just…Sugar High

What’s your vote? My vote…they are just fun {and yummy}

I started with one of my favorite Doughnut Recipes that I used for Cherry Doughnuts for Valentine’s Day, and simply left out the cherries and traded Almond Extract for the Vanilla. Using a very small amount of batter in my Wilton Mini Doughnut Pan, topped with a little Vanilla Glaze and sprinkles and the finishing touch…a Bunny Peep.

Happy Saturday friends! April really snuck up on me! So, I’m sharing some ideas for April Fool’s Day Dinner from last year. I’ve changed the recipe format so you can easily save to your recipe box and print out. Have fun!!

You probably know by now…I LOVE to create fun food!! Because I’m a Mom, a wife and a foodie {food blogger}, holidays are always tons of fun! April Fool’s Day is no exception!

I have been tricking my family on April Fool’s Day for lots of years, but not in a bad way, just with fun food. I’ve made several faux cupcakes for April Fool’s Day and last year I shared dinner ideas.

This year I decided that I needed to “up my game” a bit, so I created some new ideas for you, and a couple returning ideas from last year.

You first saw the Nuggets & Fries on cupcakes, now they are making their debut for dinner.

Does your family love Deviled Eggs? I know mine does…they are sure to be fooled by these.

Can you tell which ones are real eggs?

These Sushi are also sure to be hit! They are very quick, easy and only take 2 ingredients.

And finally making a come back from last year, because we can’t have all sweets for our April Fool’s Day Dinner. Snakes and Bugs…

I think your family is going to be totally fooled by this dinner. Don’t you? How about a cupcake to go with your fun April Fool’s Day Dinner?

Maybe some Snowcones…

And don’t miss my other fun April Fool’s Day Cupcakes!
