Last week I shared our Thanksgiving Leftover Party with lots of yummy food and decorating. Today I’d like to show you how easy it is to create the Thanksgiving Centerpiece for your table or even serving buffet.

Let’s start with the Pilgrim Hats…

Pilgrim Hat Centerpiece Supplies:

Small clay pots

Electrical tape

Washer – size will depend on the size of the pot, we used 1 1/2 inch washer on a 4 inch pot

Gold spray paint

Glitter

Instructions:

Paint the washers with gold spray paint and immediately add some glitter. You can certainly leave the glitter off, but I like how it made the buckle look shiny.

Wrap electrical tape around the clay pot. We tried using black paper, but found that the electrical tape was much easier because it stretches a bit.

After the washer is dry, glue it onto the pot with hot glue

I filled one pot with floral foam and added some flowers. And the other pots were filled with a little dried moss and a pumpkin, and a gourd garland in the last pot.

After the Pilgrim Hats were done, I simply shopped my house for items to fill the tray. I had Doug cut wood into three pieces for the center. It was my intention to have him drill out a hole for a candle, but his drill wasn’t cooperating with us that day.

Then I added in the Pilgrim Hats and filled in with some Indian Corn and silk leaves. The gourd garland, that I used last year on the Hoosier cabinet, made it’s way to the table, placed in one of the Pilgrim Hats and simply wrapped around the wood loosely.

Do you decorate your table for Thanksgiving?

I’m one of those strange people that don’t like Pumpkin Pie, but I love all the other baked goods, oh and Pumpkin Chai Tea Latte! This Pumpkin Bread is an absolutely favorite of mine and I look forward to it every Fall.

I’m not sure if you noticed, or saw me chatting about my new camera on Facebook, but I was able to purchase my first Canon DSLR a couple months ago. Doug and I have been learning the new settings and what works best. Sometimes when we take photos to share, we struggle with getting a few good ones, and other times, like the Pumpkin Bread, almost every photo was good. So bear with me…I have a few to share.

We love this Pumpkin Bread filled with nuts, but you can certainly leave them out too.

Wrap the Pumpkin Bread, or any bread, in a coffee filter and tie with a pretty ribbon for a very thoughtful and of course, budget friendly gift.

YUM! Now I need to go bake some more bread, because this is making me crave Pumpkin Bread!

Looking for a luscious but easy seasonal treat? Well…I have one that will quickly become a family favorite! Pumpkin Cake with Honey and Spice Buttercream

Typically when I’m hunting for a new recipe, I head on over to Taste of Home, Betty Crocker or Pillsbury, I had never really thought of looking at Country Living and the Delish website. When I received my Country Living Newsletter I noticed a small little link that said “Baking this Weekend?” Yes, of course I was baking, so I thought I would take a quick look and see if there was a new recipe I’d like to try, there were 48 to choose from. Well, about 6 recipes added to my to-do list and 30 minutes later, I decided, yes there definitely was some I wanted to try.

The Pumpkin Cake with Honey and Spice Buttercream caught my eye right away, not only does it start with a cake mix which I love, but the addition of buttercream with honey and spice…yes please!

While I loved the Honey and Spice Buttercream slathered all over, it was definitely pretty sweet. The Pumpkin Cake is just as good {if not better} without the frosting. Shh…don’t tell…I even had a piece without the Buttercream for breakfast with my Pumpkin Chai Tea Latte.

Here we are, another month has gone by since the last Secret Recipe Club. This is my fifth month already, amazing! Today my Secret Blogger is Allison from Sweet Flours, what a perfect match for me!

There were so many great recipes to choose from, like these Strawberry and Cream Bars, or these S’Mores Bars, and of course I was tempted by these Caramel Apple Cupcakes.

But since today kicks off a week of Pumpkin Recipes and fun ideas for you, I finally decided on Pumpkin Icebox Pie, a perfect dessert for Fall or to add to your Thanksgiving Dinner.

This Pumpkin Pie is a bit different than the traditional one, with the cinnamon graham cracker crust and the filling with cream cheese and gelatin makes it extra creamy. There are several steps to the recipe, but the good thing is, it can be made ahead, wrapped in plastic and ready for you to serve.

Top it off with Cinnamon Whipping Cream and you will be in heaven!

Remember the wood I put on the Fall Mantel, well I loved the idea so much, I decided to put some in the Window Boxes too. This time though, we just used some pieces of wood that we had cut for the fireplace. Doug placed a stepping stone in the box to elevate the wood.

A large pumpkin at one end

And the Mum Plant at the other end.

When I decorate the Mantel, Window Boxes or pretty much any where in the home, I like balancing it out with large items in the center and ends. It’s best to add items in odd numbers if possible.

Now let’s add the items in around pumpkin.

A small pie pumpkin and a couple gourds

Then I started adding the hydrangeas

Some large pine cones

And more hydrangeas to fill it in

Then more of the same around the Mum Plant

Add in the hydrangeas

Some pine cones

And fill it in

I worked for over an hour trying to get something to look right around the wood, but in the end, just ended keeping it plain and simple.

Now it’s time to get the Porch decorated and put up The Pumpkin King again! Stay tuned…

I was planning on sharing a Halloween idea each day this month, and this Autumn Garland doesn’t really qualify as Halloween, but I simply couldn’t wait to share it with you.

I shared the Shabby Rag Garland last year, but just wasn’t totally happy with it. I love the fabric, but it just needed something else. Then I saw the letters of Autumn spelled out with twigs {sorry I don’t remember where I saw them, probably on Pinterest} and thought it would be cute on scrapbook paper and attached to the Garland.

Let’s make the Autumn Sign, you will need…

Scrapbook Paper or other construction paper

Twigs {just picked mine up in our front yard}

Paper Cutter

Glue

Instructions:

Gather your twigs. I found that the ones that are a little thicker showed up a little better on the paper

Cut the paper 5 1/2 inches by 4 inches {or whatever size you need}

Break your twigs and form the letters

Glue them down and dry for several hours or overnight

To make the Shabby Rag Garland, head on over and grab the instructions or add these to another garland you already have.

Do you remember the wooden box I had on the front porch for the Summer? I brought it inside and filled it with some Fall type items. The grapevine wreath, little birdhouse and a couple Aqua Mason Jars stayed in, then I added a tea pot with apples, a small straw bale, some silk leaves that were leftover from the Mantel Garland and a few pumpkins that I found at Walmart for $.97 cents each.

And my favorite…the Scrabble letters that spell Autumn. I found the Scrabble Game a couple months ago at a Garage Sale for $1.

Total time = less than 30 minutes, including collecting the twigs and finding the paper

Total cost = $-0-

Pretty cute…wouldn’t you say?
