Apple Crisp is one of those all time favorites in our house, as I’m sure it is in your house as well.
And what’s better than Caramel Apples? Caramel Apple Crisp served with vanilla ice cream.

Whenever I bake with apples, I always use my Apple-Peeler-Corer-Slicer, that I bought from Pampered Chef. It’s one of those kitchen gadgets that I’m not sure how I ever got along without.
It attaches onto the countertop or any work surface

The apple slides on to the prongs, turn the handle and it does the work for you

Then when you are done, you have these cute little apple spirals

And don’t throw away the peels and core, add some spices and a little water and simmer on the stove for a great aroma in the house.
Now, on to the recipe for Caramel Apple Crisp, which comes from my Mom, Muriel Haverstock.
Ingredients: (This is for a single recipe)
- 4 c. sliced apples in a buttered pan
- 3/4 c. Brown Sugar
- 1/2 c. Flour
- 1/2 c. Oatmeal
- 3/4 t. Cinnamon
- 3/4 t. Nutmeg
- 1/2 c. Margarine (soft)
Directions:
Slice apples and place in pan. Combine topping and sprinkle over apples. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.

I made a double batch, because we all love it

I added some Caramel Sauce to the apples before adding the topping
And, I also added some crushed vanilla wafers to the topping this time for added flavor.

Choices – Choices
Ice Cream on top or on the bottom of the crisp? Hmm, which way do you like your Apple Crisp?

I so wish I could stick a spoon in this and eat it! I’m old fashioned when it comes to peeling apples – I still do it by hand. And, since you asked, I like my ice cream next to really hot apple crisp so that it melts it a little. Yum! Thanks for linking to Slightly Indulgent Mondays!

Oh my gosh, that looks delicious! I’m definitely going to have to try your recipe.
I love my apple peeler! I honestly don’t know what I did without it. Even if I use it only 2 or 3 times a year it’s worth it’s weight in gold…

I don’t usually comment on blogs but had to on your site. You have a very unique writing style. A lot of people don’t have that touch, they just drone on and on in the most boring way. But not you – thanks! I can’t wait to try out some of the recipes you have here (after a trip to the market to get the ingredients). Cooking is my favorite hobby. I don’t have time to read it all right now, I found this site when looking for something else on Bing, but I’ve bookmarked your home page and will check back soon to see the latest articles. Click here if you’d like to check out my site. Thanks again!
